Flex geliştiricileri Adobe Flex Builder™ IDE ortamında Coldfusion, Asp, JSP, PHP gibi popüler web programlama dilleri yardımıyla etkileşimli ve güvenli web tabanlı projeler geliştirebilirler. İstemci tarafında kullancılara sadece SWF formatında Flash dosyaları görürler.

Flex RIA olarak adlandırılan Zengin Internet Uygulamaları kavramını dilimize kazandırmıştır. Aynı zamanda ileriki yıllarda oldukça populerleşeceği düşünülen çoklu platformda çalışan Adobe Apollo uygulamaları Flex Standartının yaygınlaşmasına ivme katacaktır.
